SERVICES
Civil engineering encompasses a broad range of projects and engineering capabilities that are applicable to many public works and private sector projects. Projects range from large drainage studies to traffic engineering to land development. MKEC’s team has excellent working relationships with the various regulatory agencies that have permitting and oversight for various project requirements. In addition, our designs are enhanced based upon the client’s needs by working with our in-house landscape architects as a critical member of the design team. As defined by Webster’s, “to develop land for human use and enjoyment..” and we agree. MKEC’s landscape architects provide creative solutions that achieve the client’s vision. Just as a master painter uses a paint palette, a landscape architect uses a palette of plant materials, stone, water and more. “Human use and enjoyment” spans retail lifestyle centers, commercial settings, parks, boulevards, educational campuses, master planned subdivisions and signature residences. The creative application of landscape architecture enhances the value of a project and brings “enjoyment” to all that view it.

LAND DEVELOPMENT
The need for an efficient transportation infrastructure has become increasingly important in an era where time is the constraining factor. Whether for commerce or recreation, Americans expect to get there quickly and safely. At the same time, budget constraints are a real challenge for state and local governments. Working between those competing needs, MKEC’s engineers develop creative solutions and designs focused on constructability to help achieve timely and successful projects.
MKEC has worked on cemeteries in twelve states across the county. We have had the opportunity to work on multiple Veterans cemeteries at both the national and state level, as well as municipal and parochial cemeteries.

WATER / WASTEWATER Municipalities are faced with significant challenges in maintaining and expanding their water and wastewater infrastructures. Aging systems, growing demand and increased regulations make their task more difficult. MKEC works with municipalities to thoroughly understand the issues, define realistic options and then work through a decision making process with the client to arrive at the best cost/benefit solution. New technologies and constrained budgets create opportunity. MKEC’s creative solutions have helped to significantly reduce project costs. Our engineers and partners are also able to provide design services through the Design/Build method of project delivery.
Industry continues to invest in capital projects that meet financial return objectives, improve safety or increase plant throughput by eliminating bottlenecks. At the same time, many operating companies are also reducing their in-house engineering staff in favor of out-sourcing for professional engineering design services. MKEC’s industrial team includes mechanical, electrical, structural and chemical engineers many of which have worked for operating companies and therefore understand plant environments. MKEC operates it’s own in-house crews and equipment to ensure that project schedules are met and that quality information is used in the design process. For 27 years, MKEC has embraced technological advances including the latest 3-D laser scanners. We also utilize robotic total stations and employ GPS capabilities at each of our office locations. Our client’s appreciate our turn-key approach to their projects, whether that be a design survey or providing construction staking to ensure the project is built according to plans. ELECTRICAL
The future is now. In the AEC industry the term BIM, or Building Information Modeling has been throw around for years with no one truly understanding its meaning or its value. MKEC prides itself on its implementation and knowledge of BIM and what it can offer our clients in terms of value. Our BIM studio is poised and ready to aid architects, owners, manufacturers, and contractors with all of their needs as they start down this path. We offer full engineering design and BIM modeling using the latest versions of REVIT Structure and REVIT MEP as well as AutoCAD MEP. Our BIM Studio also has experience in developing full building coordination models for contractors and owners. For equipment manufacturers we offer full BIM content modeling in order to get your products out to other designers. On the industrial side we offer 3D modeling of all types of plants utilizing CADworks. MKEC is also an expert in the field of high definition laser scanning which is beneficial to the modeling process.
