Integris Health sought to bring a new medical campus to Edmond, Oklahoma. They chose a hill with relatively steep slopes and standing trees, and desired to preserve as much of the natural landscape as possible to help create a natural healing environment.
We were involved from the start in planning the building locations and site layout. Landscape architecture planning included preserving about three acres of existing trees. We also were able to mitigate storm water runoff from parking areas by directing water to areas covered in native prairie grasses. Site planning included consideration for future expansion of the hospital and additional medical office buildings. Disturbed areas were seeded with native grasses and wildflowers, which will increasingly enhance the campus as time passes and these plants mature. In addition, this project earned recognition by the Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association for quality of design and pavement installation.
